The 2021 Paint the City Program is a pilot program authorized by the Maple Heights City Council through Ordinance 2021-26. The Program provides a free voucher to applicants who are owner-occupants, current on their property taxes, and income qualify. Below is more information about the Program and the steps to help guide you through the application. Please note, attending a Lead Safe workshop/webinar is required as part of the Program. Learn more about Lead Safe practices in the Lead in Your Home handbook.

Step 1

Read through the Program Guidelines and Procedures to make sure you qualify for the Program. Applicants must be owner-occupants, current on their property taxes, and meet income maximum guidelines listed below:

Family Size 1 2 3 4 5 6
Income Maximum* $44,050 $50,350 $56,650 $62,900 $67,950 $73,000
*Income Maximums use the most recent U.S. HUD Income Guidelines. Income Maximums are subject to change throughout the year. Applications will be evaluated based on the Income Guidelines in effect at time of application.

Step 2

If you qualify for the Program, complete the Application and submit it along with the required application documents to the Housing Department at City Hall (5353 Lee Road, Maple Heights, Ohio 44137). Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis as long as funds are available. Do not begin painting or purchasing any supplies before you hear from the Housing Department.

Step 3

The Housing Department will review your application and application documents. If there are missing documents or information, a Housing Department team member will contact you. A Housing Department team member will also stop by your home to inspect the areas identified for painting in your application. Additional areas that need to be painted as part of the Program and any award may be identified.

Step 4

After the Housing Department reviews your application and inspects the project area, a determination letter will be sent to you letting you know if you have been awarded funding through the Program. Do not begin painting or purchasing any supplies before you hear from the Housing Department.
